Niagara County centers on one of the most unique river systems in North America. Niagara Falls State Park, including Goat Island, the Three Sisters Islands, and Terrapin Point, offers gulls, waterfowl, and river-dependent species. Fort Niagara State Park provides lakefront birding from the Visitor Area and Boat Launch. Wilson–Tuscarora State Park adds shoreline views from the pier and adjacent lakefront. Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area, spanning Mud Creek, the Paddy Marshes, and Wood Marsh, supports marsh birds, raptors, and seasonal waterfowl.
