Vince grew up in Minnesota, where his curiosity for the natural world first took hold. That curiosity turned into a passion for birds while attending Prescott College in Arizona, and from that point on, birding became central to both his work and way of life.
Over the past decade, Vince has worked across the United States on conservation and research projects, spending countless hours in the field studying birds and the ecosystems they inhabit. He recently earned his master’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where his research focused on avian diversity and social dynamics in Amazonian bird communities.
Now based in Sierra Vista, Arizona, Vince works as a wildlife biologist at Fort Huachuca, an area he considers one of the most exciting and biodiverse landscapes in the United States. In the field, he is especially tuned in to bird vocalizations and behavior, with a knack for picking out subtle calls and interpreting what birds are doing and why.
Vince enjoys helping others connect more deeply with the natural world, whether that means tracking down a target species, learning bird sounds, or simply slowing down to take in the full experience of a place. From birds to plants to butterflies, he brings curiosity and enthusiasm to every outing and is always excited to share that with others.
