Quinn was born in Illinois and spent much of his childhood exploring the woods in search of new bird species. His passion for birds began with his grandmother as they watched House Wrens nest on her back porch. Recognizing his enthusiasm, his parents supplied him with field guides to help identify birds, launching his birding journey at the age of 10. He fondly recalls writing his first journal entries about Black-capped Chickadees and keeping his life list in a faded black notebook. Today, he enjoys traveling around the country with his wife in search of new bird species and makes annual trips to Pinnacles National Park to see his favorite bird, the California Condor.
An avid observer of all wildlife, from small amphibians to large marine mammals, Quinn earned a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology and Management from the University of Wyoming.
Quinn currently resides in Washington and regularly enjoys seeking out the birds of the Olympic Peninsula. Outside of birding, he serves as an officer in the Army National Guard. When he is not serving, he can usually be found in the field searching for new species or sharing his spotting scope with curious bystanders to give others a window into the world of birding.
