Michael grew up reading his parents’ old field guide and watching birds in Pittsburgh’s Frick Park. A trip to the Galápagos Islands in 2011 reinvigorated his passion for birds and nature, and he began dedicating most of his free time to birding from that point forward. He also began working as a consulting wildlife biologist in 2012, and his work has included breeding bird surveys, year-round bird-use counts, Bald and Golden Eagle activity monitoring, and American Golden-Plover migration surveys.
Michael relocated to Tucson, Arizona, in 2025 and has greatly enjoyed exploring the desert and mountain landscapes the area has to offer. He loves sharing the joys of birding with others and helping create exciting and unexpected moments in the field. Michael has observed 679 bird species in the United States and 1,225 worldwide, and he is eager to share his breadth of knowledge while guiding others through the Southwest.
