Originally from Northeast Philadelphia, Kenny moved to South Florida with his family in 1993 and quickly fell in love with the state’s vast and diverse landscapes. He began birding seriously in 2012 and has since photographed and filmed more than 400 species in Florida. His extensive field experience has allowed him to lead private birding and photography tours as well as group outings for Audubon-affiliated organizations.
Kenny earned a film degree in 2020, blending his lifelong interest in video production with his passion for birds to create engaging visual stories that highlight Florida’s avifauna. In addition to his naturalist background, he brings more than a decade of experience in mental health and substance-abuse work. This has shaped his approach to guiding, as he incorporates principles of mindfulness to help ease stress and enhance the restorative experience of birdwatching.
Kenny is the creator and administrator of the Palm Beach County rare bird alert group, which provides updates on notable sightings to more than 150 local birders. He collaborates closely with Palm Beach County’s eBird reviewers and is currently producing a Florida birding documentary, BirdingRx, sponsored by Kowa Optics.
