Amos has been interested in birds since he picked up his dad’s Sibley guide to birds at the age of four. Soon after, he began exploring his yard and nearby areas around his home in Wayne County, Ohio, in search of as many species as possible. His favorite time of year is the first few weeks of May, when spring migration moves through the Northeast, and he makes an effort to visit Magee Marsh and surrounding areas each year to see as many warblers and other migrants as possible.
In college, Amos had the opportunity to go on birding trips to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands, and he also helped plan an itinerary for a birding trip to the Peruvian Andes. Through these experiences, he discovered a love for helping others find new birds. He enjoys searching for both migrant and breeding species wherever he is, particularly warblers, which are his favorite family of birds.
