Kent has lived in Minnesota his entire life, and his love of birding began at age seven. Growing up along the Mississippi River, he spent countless hours exploring his backyard and the nearby woods in search of woodpeckers and raptors. For one childhood birthday, he even asked for a field guide to the birds of Minnesota. Over the years his hobbies have shifted, but his appreciation for nature and birds has remained a constant.
In the past three years, Kent has deepened his passion for birdwatching through photography. He loves exploring Minnesota’s forests and waterways in search of both new lifers and familiar favorites. Recently, owls have become a particular fascination, and he delights in discovering the quiet, hidden places they inhabit.
Kent’s love of nature centers on connection—to the moment, to the landscape, and to the life within it. On every outing, he hopes clients gain both an educational experience and practical tools they can carry into their own birding adventures. After all, you never know what you might discover in the woods—and that uncertainty is part of the joy.
