Born and raised in South Florida, Brian now resides in Pensacola in the far western Panhandle. Over the years, he has developed a deep appreciation for Florida’s sensitive ecosystems, and his birding journey began in earnest in 2017. He has lived throughout the state—including Orlando, Fort Myers, and Miami—giving him a well-rounded understanding of Florida’s diverse birdlife and habitats.
Brian currently works for Audubon Florida as the Panhandle Shorebird Stewardship Coordinator, where he collaborates with staff, volunteers, and partners of the Florida Shorebird Alliance to protect imperiled beach-nesting species such as Snowy Plovers and Black Skimmers. Across Florida, he has held seasonal positions monitoring Florida Scrub-Jay productivity, conducting Black Rail detection surveys, and banding migratory songbirds at the Cape Florida Banding Station. He has observed over 400 bird species in Florida.
With a strong interest in shorebirds and seabirds, Brian spends much of his time birding along the coast, exploring dunes and tidal flats on barrier islands in search of vagrants and local rarities. He is also fascinated by migration and closely follows weather patterns to make the most of spring and fall movements.
Brian has guided for the North Shore Birding Festival in Central Florida and leads bird outings throughout the year in his role with Audubon Florida.
