Cole’s fascination with birds began at a young age when he spotted a group of Western Tanagers in his backyard—an encounter that sparked a passion for birding that has since taken him across much of the United States. No place draws him more than Colorado, where the state’s mountains, plains, and diverse ecosystems provide exceptional birding opportunities.
With extensive firsthand experience exploring Colorado’s habitats, Cole has documented more than 450 species in the state. His knowledge of birding hotspots—from alpine tundra to riparian corridors—makes him a skilled guide for birders of all levels, whether you’re searching for a specific target or getting started in the field.
Cole is also dedicated to community science and outreach. He has volunteered with Arapahoe County to conduct bird counts and has taken on leadership roles in guiding Christmas Bird Count efforts.
