Luke is from Longmont, Colorado, and has lived in Boulder County his entire life. He began birding at age eight, when his mom—also a birder—pointed out a Ruddy Duck. From that moment on, he has been captivated by the world of birds. While he has birded across the United States and abroad, Luke primarily focuses on learning the birds and habitats of Colorado and its 64 unique counties, many of which he has visited numerous times.
Luke has worked as a field technician banding House Wrens and conducting transect surveys. He has also volunteered monitoring raptors in Boulder County and Baird’s Sparrows in northern Colorado. He recently graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Statistics and Data Science and a minor in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He hopes to apply his quantitative training to wildlife conservation in the years ahead.
