Andrew was born and raised in Georgia, where his love for birds began around 2003 during childhood outings with his father—shortly after they shared a spark bird moment with a Yellow-breasted Chat. What started as a shared hobby quickly became a lifelong passion. In 2010, he attended the Hog Island Audubon Camp in Maine—a formative experience that deepened his interest in birds while studying Atlantic Puffins and other coastal species alongside fellow young birders.
Since moving to New Mexico in 2019, Andrew has immersed himself in the state’s diverse landscapes and birdlife. From hiking high-elevation trails to birding remote backroads across the plains, he’s explored much of the Land of Enchantment and loves sharing its beauty and avian diversity with others. He currently serves as a co-compiler for New Mexico’s North American Birds regional reports, as well as an eBird regional reviewer, and is passionate about conservation. He has also led multiple successful multi-day birding tours throughout the state.
In addition to birds, Andrew is a dedicated naturalist with a broad fascination for the wild world. He keeps lifelists for fish, snakes, mammals, and odonates, and enjoys learning about and sharing the biodiversity of the Southwest. Whether helping someone find their next life bird or introducing newcomers to New Mexico’s unique avian landscape, Andrew brings both knowledge and patience to every outing.
