Tommy has loved the outdoors and wildlife from an early age. He began birding at 13 after watching Ospreys fish and nest around the lakes in Greer, Arizona—a moment that sparked a lifelong passion. His interest grew steadily as he became part of the birding community, learning through regular field time and mentorship from experienced birders.
Tommy enjoys many aspects of birding. His favorite region is Maricopa County, though he appreciates birding throughout Arizona and regularly travels out of state to explore new habitats. He has a particular interest in underbirded areas and finds joy in migration birding and helping others discover new species.
Tommy is a current member of the Arizona Bird Committee, has participated in Christmas Bird Counts and events for Arizona Field Ornithologists, and contributed to the “Birding Areas” section of Birds of Phoenix and Maricopa County, Arizona.
