Joe is a passionate birder who is experienced with birds across the northeastern United States. He has been birding for eight years and leaps at any opportunity to explore a new location or add a new bird to his life list. Learning from the experienced and competitive birders his home state of New Jersey is known for, Joe is the type of birder who enjoys educating others and sharing his excitement and experiences. His favorite bird is the White-breasted Nuthatch.
Having completed a master’s degree in Ecology, Joe is also knowledgeable about bird behavior and anatomy. He has worked in several positions over the years in different capacities, ranging from rehabilitation work to trudging through swamps in search of birds, all of which he says have helped shape his perspective on birding. He believes these experiences have made him a more well-rounded birder, which led him to pursue becoming a guide so he could help foster positive experiences for others while birding.
Joe is also knowledgeable beyond birds. He has worked with bats, fish, reptiles, and amphibians as well. He is an avid outdoors enthusiast and a strong believer in conservation. As someone who sees nature as a set of interconnected systems, Joe believes in the importance of conservation and is dedicated to the preservation of birds so that people can continue to enjoy the experiences birding offers for years to come.
