About Josiah Patrick

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Josiah has called the United States home for the past 22 years. Having spent the last three years in the Tampa Bay area, he has fallen in love with the Gulf Coast. He is deeply passionate about birds, wildlife, and conservation. Josiah uses bird guiding and photography to share his love of birds and to help others foster a deeper understanding of the bird and animal species encountered during journeys into natural spaces around the world. He aims to offer a colorful perspective on birding and hopes to inspire others to take small acts of conservation within their own communities. He currently serves on the Board of Tampa Audubon and other nonprofits focused on bird and animal conservation. In addition to guiding, Josiah also gives environmental talks to various Audubon and scientific organizations.

Over the past eight years, Josiah has been fully immersed in birding and bird photography, visiting several countries and U.S. states in search of birds and other wildlife. He has recorded more than 1,260 bird species during his travels throughout North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean.

Outside of birding, Josiah is a passionate naturalist who enjoys exploring more than just birds. He has an interest in reptiles, butterflies, and much more. His background in school counseling and education makes him a natural educator, and he works to foster an environment in which all people can learn.

Let’s go on an adventure!
