Experience, Care, and Local Knowledge

About Claudia Strijek

Claudia Strijek has long enjoyed experiencing the natural world through her adventures birding, photographing and painting, backpacking, fly fishing, and packrafting. She made a career change later in life to reflect her passion and obtained a degree in biology and ornithology. Since 2013, she has worked in the field collecting data on bird behavior and occupancy for nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and environmental consulting firms.

Along with her knowledge of avian identification, Claudia brings a passion for observing birds as they move through seasons and habitats. As a birding guide, she does more than simply point out birds; she shares what she knows about their habitats, behaviors, and the challenges they face. The respect and awe Claudia feels for birds and all wild things add depth to every day in the field.

She has birded in all the western states but calls Colorado home, where she has the most experience. Although she has worked extensively in prairie habitats, her favorite environments are alpine and montane ecosystems, especially those with water and, inevitably, abundant bird life.
